Microteaching / Mini teaching practice
Microteaching provides student teachers an opportunity to let some illumination in their talents by practicing the various simple tasks called microteaching skills. A demo and practice on various micro teaching skills were undergone from 22nd January to 27th January 2018.The students were divided into small groups and they practiced the demonstrated skills in small groups under the supervision of the staff members.
Demo-teaching
A special demo-teaching was given from 29th January to 3rd February 2018 for our B.Ed. first year students. By demonstrating how to teach, our teacher educators set a model for our prospective teachers and they learned appropriate teaching behaviours out of it.
Lesson Plan Writing Practice
Planning ahead helps to reach the goal. This is the first step in any process and education is no exception. In education, the lesson plan serves as a preparation tool that makes the teaching-learning process easy and effective. It tells clearly the objectives to be achieved, the teaching methods, instructional aids and evaluation techniques in the instructional hours. It helps the teachers create a smooth instructional flow and scaffold instruction for learners. So a three day special programme on lesson plan writing was given to the first year student teachers by their respective optional teachers from 5th to 7th February 2018.
Peer teaching
Peer teaching is instrumental to enhance teaching effectiveness of prospective teachers. To build the confidence and communicative abilities of our first year prospective teachers a two day peer teaching was organizes on 8th and 10th February 2018. This teaching platform had a reciprocal teaching of teaching skills.
Visit to Special School
The I year B.Ed. students visited ‘Sivabakkiam Special School for the Mentally Challenged and Old Age Home’ at Elanagar on 24th October 2017. It was an experience of different nature that helped the students understands the issues and needs of the special children and people there.
School Internship Programme
The 2nd year B.Ed. students of KCED went for their school internship programme for 16 weeks to the neighbouring schools from 1stAugust to 15thDecember 2017.
Four Week Internship for B.Ed. First Year
The first year B.Ed. students have undergone four week continuous internship programme starts from 22nd January to 17thFebruary 2018. This continuous internship programme includes innovative school visit, micro or mini teaching, macro teaching, peer teaching and writing lesson plan.
Innovative School Visit
An Innovative School is a public school that approaches education from a new perspective. As the innovative school visit is a part of our B.Ed. curriculum. Our Student Teachers visited three schools: Vivekanandha VidhyaBhavan Matric.Hr.Sec.School, Elayampalayam, Sri VidhyaBharathi Matric.Hr.Sec.School, Sakkarampalayam and Mahendra Matric.Hr.Sec.School, Kumaramangalam from 12th to 17thFebruary 2018. They exposed new methods of teaching, Smart Classrooms, Audio/Visual Aids and CCE pattern enriched them much.
